How to Volunteer for Northridge Discovery Classrooms

Discovery Booster Club is now accepting volunteer applications for the Discovery classrooms. Here at Northridge Discovery, the Discovery Booster Club has a dedicated volunteer coordinator who helps organize and assign parents to classroom volunteer positions.

The classroom volunteer positions are regular, weekly commitments to help support the students and teachers. The room parent volunteer position helps to organize events for the classroom and the Discovery Booster Club, such as the Great American Spellcheck Fundraiser held in the early spring.

Most parents volunteer for their child's classrooms. The kids enjoy seeing their parents in the class and the teachers welcome the additional help in the class. Parents who can squeeze some volunteer time are also better prepared to help their children with homework.

At Northridge Discovery, we also encourage parents to volunteer for other Discovery classrooms, especially math in the 5th and 6th grade classes. We are also looking for volunteers who have a passion or interest in science, social studies, reading and writing in these classes.

This year, we are using Signup Genius to organize class volunteer applications. Our volunteer coordinator does her best to place volunteers into their preferred time slots, but sometimes we have more volunteers than time slots. If you are willing to be more flexible, please indicate in the Notes field of the Volunteer Form that you are available any time or open to alternating every other week.

If you have any questions, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Catherine Archuleta.
