Please join us for a lively discussion about what to expect as a gifted student in middle and high school. Northridge Discovery Alumni Students will answer your questions including:

  • What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were a Northridge student?
  • What should current Northridge students do now to prepare for middle school?
  • And much more!

Here's who you will meet:

Mountain Ridge Middle School, 7th Grader (B.S.) - a National Junior Honor Society student, who is also involved in Geography Bee and Brain Bowl. He’s interested in talking about how to communicate with your teachers and advocate for yourself.

Mountain Ridge Middle School, 7th Grader (K.M.) - who is involved in Flag Football. He wants to talk about the Mountain Ridge Plays and the fact that if you have 9 other students and a teacher, you can create your own club. He’s wants to talk about what it’s like being a Discovery student in middle school, technology, electives, buses, homework, bullies, and a lot more.

Rocky Heights MS, 8th Grader (A.R.)- a National Junior Honor Society student, who is also involved in Yearbook, Tennis, and Softball. She’s interested in talking about how to manage your time, organize your work, overcome the challenges of group projects, find time with your friends, pods, and even more.

Mountain Ridge MS, 7th Grader (S.T.) - who is involved in Volleyball, Track and Field, Flag Football, Basketball, and Drama. She’s interested in talking about pod placement, the even/odd day schedule, extracurricular activities, and making new friends.

Mountain Ridge MS, 7th Grader (E.B.) - who is involved in Brain Bowl and Geography Bee. He feels it’s important to talk about homework and study habits.

Mountain Ridge Middle School, 7th Grader (J.C.) - who is involved in Flag Football. He wants to talk about the Mountain Ridge Plays and the fact that if you have 9 other students and a teacher, you can create your own club. He’s wants to talk about what it’s like being a Discovery student in middle school, technology, electives, buses, homework, bullies, and a lot more.

Colorado Early Colleges Parker, 11th Grader (Z.M) - who is involved in band, flag football, Gamers club, multimedia & technology classes, and consumer & family studies (home ec). He’s interested in talking about the importance of kids communicating with teachers about assignments and get help when they need it, grades, and Infinite Campus. Colorado Early Colleges is a tuition-free charter school that lets students take college classes and earn a degree.

Mountain Vista HS, 10th Grader (Z.J.) - who is involved in volleyball, tennis, field hockey, book club, Gender Sexuality Alliance, Key Club, FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) and choir program. She wants to share advice about making new friends, balancing school/activities/fun, create connections to teachers, the importance of activities, the transition from Discovery and how to adjust to the amount of homework (it’s really not that much!)
